Sir Matthew Rycroft KCMG CBE is the Permanent Secretary of the Home Office. He began his career in the Foreign and Commonwealth office, where he held a number of roles including HM Ambassador to Bosnia, Chief Operating Officer for the Department and the British Permanent Representative to the UN. He became the Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Development in January 2018, before moving to his current role in the Home Office in March 2020.
